For this winter wedding at Salamander Resort in Middleburg, Virginia, we created a fashion-forward celebration inspired by the bride’s background as a stylist and fashion major, layering rich texture, dramatic color, and highly personalized details throughout the weekend. Velvet and chiffon played a central role in the design, from the color-drenched burgundy cocktail tent to the softly draped ballroom and statement chiffon chandeliers overhead. Guests entered through a graphic black-and-white checkered aisle before discovering custom-framed petite paintings that doubled as keepsake ornaments, embroidered ribbon place cards, sculptural glass candelabras designed to reflect and amplify candlelight, and richly layered tablescapes. Floral designs incorporated intentional color blocking, movement, and unexpected texture, while a five-tier vintage-inspired wedding cake finished with cherries added a playful, nostalgic moment. Even Cupcake, Salamander’s beloved miniature pony, made an appearance during cocktail hour. The result was a fresh interpretation of a winter wedding in Virginia Hunt Country—romantic, editorial, and subtly seasonal, with nods to the holidays that never felt overly traditional.
